What is this Party all About?
Warper is a free, volunteer supported, community building event. We create an inclusive environment where anyone using technology to perform can sign up to play . All we ask is that you do your thing, and be prepared.
What equipment will you provide for me?
- One table
- One electrical outlet
- Two ¼ inch inputs t o the soundsystem
Is there more equipment that you can provide?
Nope. You must bring everything you need to perform yourself.
We do NOT provide DJ equipment ( turntables, CD players, DJ-mixers, etc.) .
We do NOT provide band equipment (microphon es, DI boxes, monitors, amplifiers, etc.).
Seriously? That’s all I get? When we can, we will also try to provide:
- a decent monitoring solution
- a cheap microphone to talk to the audience
- an MP3 player for interstitial music before and after your set
- a volunteer StageMaster to assist you and other performers
How does the music at Warper run?We often have 20 or more artists performin g in one night. To make this happen we run “double-stages”. Our double-s tages have enough space for two separate artists at the same time. One artist can set up o r tear down while the other artist is performing. Both artists can plug into the small mix er on stage, that connects to the sound system.
How much time do I get to play?If you sign up and receive a 30 minute time-slot, that means you have 30 minu tes to play music. You can use the 15 minutes before your slot to set up, and the 15 minut es after your slot to tear down. You are responsible for being ready to play on time. ; You are also responsible for informing the previous artist when it is your turn to play.
What kind of things should I bring to be TOTALLY prepared? - a power strip
- lon g audio cables with ¼ inch tails
- a variety of audio-adapters
- a small mixer (if you have multiple sound sources)
- ear-bud headphones (if good monitoring is crucial fo r you)
Is there a sound person?
Nope.
Do I get a sound check? No , but if you want you can check your signal before your set, during your timeslot, while interst itial music is playing.
What is the backline? We do not have access to any band equipment.
Do you really let ANYONE play?Anyone can play at Warper, as long as they fit the themes of technology and performance.
What if I forget to bring a cable, audio adapter or power-strip?Try asking some of the other performers. There are a lot of friendly and generous people at Warper.
How much do performers get paid? You get infinite gratitude, but zero cash. It’s a free party, remember?
Can I get some drink tickets?Only volunteers get drink tickets.
Can I change m y timeslot at the last minute?Nope
Do you still love me?Yes!
